How to find the actual bars that actually show the direction of market/trend?

<p id="isPasted">About market direction: Trying to determine a trend is trying to determine what the market movers such as institutional investors along with brokerages with superior algorithms are going to do; which is not possible. A person also cannot determine which high speed traders are going to win the daily high speed war. it is all simply unknown future, which as an individual investor does not have any procured knowledge of that future. If the direction of the market was assessable to good technical investors there would be less loss by active investors who do not succeed in matching the index they can be compared to. Active investors need to expect more losses than buy and hold index investors. The latter “bats for averages.”</p><p>About getting confused: There is a big difference between analysis and doing. The first is a relaxed yet intense and enjoyable process, the latter, the doing, is the hard part. We need the good trade in order to vindicate all our hard work at the analysis part. For example, In this last real crash, I was buying at the low. My first trade I made an error and I was shocked. How stupid I was, I thought. I was prepared through experience in the 2008 crash, but on sidelines just investing mostly through the 401k at my job, except briefly in 2017. But not deep in the trenches. Action and doing is where it can fall apart. After more than a decade of not doing the actual significant to me buying I was filled with unanticipated fear, anxiety and emotion, all a substrate of being human. I have done buying and selling before but this was a crash with unknowns whether the buying lows would work out in the future or just take my “dry powder” away. Biases are the problem. You have that problem, we have that problem. But then after the error, the next day and the next low, the process was fun. I was then in what was the future and I knew what stresses I would face and it was as easy as going to the ATM. Jim Simmons,a famed investor, said something like, he was tired of seeing what worked one day and then coming into his office and seeing it fail. He therefore computerized all decision making with algos that he developed. He took the daily stress of the actual investing away. He, along with his original investors are all millionaires or billionaires. Investing for most is a human activity with technology helping us along. Confusion, worry and enjoyment are all part of that action.</p>
