It is not all about psychology. Finance knowledge and technical skills are important too, as well as creativity. However, psychology definitely plays a role. Behavioural econ/finance literature has shown that traders behave in predictable and irrational ways.

I believe that psychology played strong role in previous market conditions, when traders were all humans and the flow was dictated more by what they, knew, intuited, or thought they knew. The psychology that applies these days in trading is in developing flexibility, adaptability, curiosity, and lots of patience while starting anew.

You can’t trade successfully if you don’t have nearly complete self-control of your emotions when making trading decisions. If you can master yourself then you can make rational decisions. Otherwise, do something else. There’s plenty of jobs where connecting back to how you feel is a great thing (acting for one).
